Good Riddance Bug!

The rest of the first week of November was not a very fun one for our household. We were struck by an awful stomach bug. Brandie and Hudson acquired the sickness first, then Kanyon, who for some reason got hit the hardest.

He started just not acting like himself, really mellow, and not very giggly. He kind of just wanted to be cuddled...and then the vomiting started, and kept on and on for over 30 hours of him puking every hour to hour and a half. He was not able to keep anything down, therefore leading to him getting dehydrated. I was extremely livid with Dr. Wylie's office for not allowing us to come in to get checked out, after talking to their voicemail all day on Wednesday.
So we loaded him up on that Thursday (Nov. 4th) and headed to the Minor ER, to see if they could just prescribe him some kind of anti-nausea med, but they sent us to Hendrick, saying he was very dehydrated and needed to receive IV fluids.
We waited patiently, while Kanyon continued to puke, within 30 minutes of nursing him. Talk about feeling completely helpless. I would not wish sickness on anyone's precious baby.
After being at Hendricks from 9AM-3PM with no answers, other than the doc suggesting that he could have a Blocked Intestine, sending us quickly to X-ray (at 12PM) and being shoved in the overcrowded waiting room with a very sick baby, we spoke to both sets of our parents, decided that we were done with the bullcrap and left! We arrived at Abilene Regional at 3:15, were seen by the doc by 4:00, who wanted to draw Kan's blood to check for dehydration before he would administer fluid via IV.
What a nightmare! They pricked, no, a more acurate term would be, dug, into my baby's right arm, then left arm, called in a different group of teenage CNAs, who tortured him by digging into his right foot, until the doctor came in after the 3 separate groups of people who continuously, unsuccesfully, tryied to get a tiny amount of blood for the test, said "Let's just give him something for the vomiting...by mouth."
If that is all my son needed, why couldn't the Minor ER have given him that magic potion in the first place? At 8AM! Instead of an entire no-good-very-bad-day at the hospitals, to receive a simple medicine at 7 PM. I was angry, but glad someone finally was offering him some relief and a chance to keep some milk down.
We were very weary that it was not going to work, however Kanyon only vomited once more on Friday afternoon, and was himself by Monday. Thank God!
Although Kanyon was 50% better by Friday morning (pic above), I was puking all night and a few times on Friday, but much better by Saturday. That stomach bug was potent! Somehow sweet Wesley managed to get skipped, but her Nana and Daddy were struck by the weekend. All are well now!
