Illness Update: Everyone is back to themselves after a solid week and a half of sick babies. Thank goodness everyone is back to themselves, healthwise (both) & attitude wise (kan!).
Here's a little phone pic recap of how the rest of our sickweek continued...
Monday, 5/21 - more icecream in bed for sore throat, while watching an obscene amount of Disney & Nick Jr, and PBS Channels ALLL week long. I'm pretty postive I can sing all the different shows' jingles to ya, those things get stuck in my head for hours!
"yo-ho-ho, what's the pirate password, matey? It's a pleasure to steal your treasure!" from Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
"we did it, we did it, we did it, hooray! vamanos, everyone let's go! estrellas:stars! say salta! jump!" from Dora the Explorer.
"shake your hands high, shake down lowww, to the sky, down low, now everybody Crazy Shake!!" from Team Umizoomi,
"Here we go, go, go, go on an adventure" from The Cat in the Hat knows alot about That.
"hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog. Meeska-Mooska-Mickeyyyy Mouse!!!" from the Mickey Mouse Club House "come inside it's fun inside".
Don't hate. You know you're jealous! It's kinda of like "this is the song that never ends, yes, it goes on and on my friends." and it repeats, repeats, you catch the drift. But, hey, all for the love of my boy, snuggling him back to health would I torture myself with such tunes 24+hours a day! (at least he shared his ice cream!)
When your Mom makes you stay in bed all day, you're bound to get a case of Boredom, and think of adventures you can go on...like rock-climbling, or at least scaling the headboard...then realize that your chunky leg is stuck, begging Mom for help as she is grabbing her phone to snap a pic of your unfortunate, yet funny to her predicament before rescuing you.
We've been doing lots of drawing lately as well. Kanyon has been improving on his "writing" skills, instead of scribbling as fast and big as he can, he's been mimicking writing letters and asks for the pen to write, he slowly writes up and down, usually between the lines of the notebook paper (note to self: buy him preschool writing paper or print some out, duh, why hadn't i thought of that before,he's been using my college ruled notebook paper) and says "A, D, 2, 3, etc" such a stinking smarty!
I've also been adding Bible Time to my days for my own strengthening of faith, knowledge of Bible stories, and to set a great example for my babies. We've been doing a few Bible lessons here and there...simplifying it for him along the lines of "God Made the Light" (i have pics of the crafts...maybe I'll get around to posting those). I used to teach 2-yr olds Sunday School, so I have some cute ideas for him, plus Pinterest led me to some great toddler Bible crafts to go with the stories as well.
(see Karter's little chunky fingers on the pages of the Bible?"
This contraption aka humdifier has been put to use more than ever to try and moisten the air for our little ones who BOTH ended up with the runny nose, sore throat, coughing virus/cold.
Little Miss Bookworm
By Monday night, Mommy needed a pick-me-up! Especially when Daddy went to play golf right after work, meaning I was single-parenting 2 sick kids for who knows how many hours. These are yummy by the way!
Rest is Best! Tuesday 5/22
Silliness is Sweet
Group Naps in the afternoon are lifesavers for all involved. I know there are lots of photos of Kanyon sleeping, but really, it's the reality of how we spent our entire week! He was so sick, puny, weak, grumpy, plain old not feeling good, all he wanted to do was lay down. He would get bursts of energy and try to go play (although I wouldn't let him play outside because of his cough that moved from Croup, to a "from the chest" cough that got worse as he got more active) and would crash within 15 minutes, and put himself in bed or on the couch, wiped out from play.
Lots of book reading, plenty of puzzles, & Daddy got him yummy Fruit Snacks. Who has noticed that my son is ALWAYS in this ballcap?! He is addicted. I'm not kidding. He wakes up asking for it "where's my hat" and usually puts up a pretty good fight when it's bathtime, naptime, bedtime, when Mommy (I suppose to him, UNfairly) demands to "take it off for a little bit, please!" You'll most likely catch Kanman in his undies and hat at any point in the day, with the occasional pair of shoes to dress his attire up a bit. It's takes bribery to get him dressed to go out in public. I don't blame him, I enjoy the comfortable clothing at home too (usually braless. hey, let's be real- highly dislike when people just "drop by" call or text us first!)
By Tuesday evening, Karter was still running fever, had developed the snot nose and cough. She slept wayyy more than usual all day Tuesday.
Wednesday, 5/23 she had her 6-month checkup scheduled, so I decided to go ahead and take her and if it ended up a sick visit, with no shots, then so be it. But they checked her out, and although she had a slight fever, they went ahead and gave her the 3 huge shots in her fat little thighs.
She weighed 17lbs (65th percentile i think), 26inches long, and I forgot the measurement of her head but Doc said "big head" ha! Like her Bubba. Healthy, growing girl. She's teething, drooling like crazy, which led to little heat bumps on her chinny-chin-chin.
She can get up on all fours and rock back and forth, then she lunges with her big ol' noggin and crashes. My Princess is on the verge of crawling!! Too fast for Mommy.
She sits up by herself for a good amount of time, but when she gets excited, she falls right on over, then rolls and rolls, scoots, rocks to her desired destination.
No, I do not get to sit still anymore. Nor can I leave her unattended on the floor, bed, etc. She has to be in the playpen or buckled up tight in the bouncy (which, I'm trying hard to deny that she's outgrown, and need to put it in storage. boo-hoo) or her new love of growing-girl status..the walker. loves it.
Daddy stayed home with sick Brother while Karter played with her best friend..ha, herself in the mirror pre-shots at the doc.
"mama, that girl is funny! look at her boobies!"
By Sunday 5/27, Kanyon was pretty much himself, just left with a horrible cough, so he was still held prisoner in our house, but had gained back a bunch of his energy, had sweetened back up to his usual self, instead of the grumpy monster that he'd been all week. Thank goodness, glad to have my nice boy back! We can deal with a yucky cough no prob!
Monday, Memorial Day morning 5/28, Both kids feeling much, much better! Karter had a rough Thursday full of fever (102) and wineyness, probably due to her shots, plus her cough moved to a "from the chest" cough on Friday, but went away quicker than Kanyon's bout with it.
We went with Daddy to go check his oil well. Kanyon actually went with him Friday & Saturday morning too, but I begged for me & karter to tag along, just to get out of the house, and also to get away from the sound of hammering that began Saturday morning from the roofers on our house. Loud. and annoying. Especially during nap time! But, we had fun driving through the pasture and Kanyon lights up like Christmas morning when Kelby lets him "drive Daddy's truck"
We came home with Starbucks coffees, cinnamon cake, and a chocolate chip cookie. Yum.
Crazy girl. Loves sticking her tongue out, mostly when she sees us eating or drinking. Like she's saying give me some of that! p.s. doc said she can start the 3 meals a day routine if we want. She's dabbled in different stage 1 baby foods so far. No set schedule, and she's growing great from nursing alone. I'm not forcing the foods on her, but let me tell ya, she LOVES them. Way better eater of the babyfoods than Kanyon was.
Tuesday 5/29 Both kids are 100% Better! Case of the Sickies Complete.

Love to see a glimpse in the life of the Super Mommy! Love them babies! Soooooo glad that they are feeling better!
