Under the Sea ~ Ocean Jello with Fish Fruit Snacks

Kanyon helped me make a snack to go with our Under the Sea theme.

To make Ocean Jello with Fish Fruit Snacks, you need one box of Berry Blue Jello, Water, and a Box of Swedish Fish Gummy Snacks (or any other fish-shaped gummies).
Follow the Jell-O Box directions..boil one cup of water, then add the Jell-O mix, stir until dissolved.
To speed up the "setting" phase of the Jell-O, we added ice cubes to the other 1 cup of Cold water that is called for in the recipe, makig a total measurement of 1 1/3 cups of water to mix with the HOT blue one cup from the pan...
Make sure toddler's hands are away from the bowl as you pour the hot into the cold, start mixing until all the ice cubes melt....
It gets cold quick, and feels delightful on little fingers. Good thing he washed his hands prior to dunking them in our snack! Please excuse our diaper box that I used as a table in the kitchen floor, so that the mixing would be 2-yr old friendly.
Next, we added in the gummy fish to "swim" in the "ocean".

Place in the fridge, and as soon as the Jell-O turns firm, Eat It!
I will say this....after taking ours out of the fridge to eat, the fish were HARD AS ROCKS!

We will definately make this again...but, next time add the fish in the bowl AFTER the jell-O is ready, and when we are about to eat it. That part stunk that we had to scoop out the fish and dump them in the trash. And of course I had used the entire box, so there weren't extra to add later. Lesson learned.

Oh, and the flavor Berry Blue is magnificent..my most favorite Jell-O EVER! We'll be making it often throughout the summer for a cold snack, maybe with fruit (diced peaches) added. I've already purchased another box, yum!
