I was anxious to see how Kanyon would do when it came to seeing the ginormous inflatables. I was especially anticipating his reaction when they would do the "glow" of the balloons. Some kiddos basically ignore the sound and sight of the flames shooting up into the balloons, and others cry their heads off because it looks pretty scary. Which is very understandable when you're only about 3 feet tall staring up at a colorful monstrosity that towers over the trees!
Kanyon rode on his Daddy's shoulders to the balloon event, and when we got closer and closer to the balloons, his grip on Kelby's head got tighter and tighter, and his little chunky legs clenched up on Kelby's neck. Poor Kid. But...he took in the sights and sounds with a look of bewilderment on his face for a few minutes, and then quickly turned off the scared switch and wanted down on the ground to run around freely to do inspecting.
Long story short, he loved the Balloon Fest. We all chased him the entire time. Kelby, Kendall, & Mimi got suckered in by the sweet aroma of the $5 foot-long corndogs and not one of them finished off the dogs. We all four got suckered into buying a disgusting, tastes like dirt sweet tea to go with our Blue Cotton Candy (that Kanyon refused to try..ha! More for his parents to eat!). I think we adults were more pooped than the boy was. We headed back home with a new light-up, clapper wand held tight in Kanyon's hand. He was asleep before we got home. (After our pitstop to Sonic for our new fave...Cherry Sprite..yum.)
